Michael Hopkins is a transactional real estate attorney and a partner at Bocarsly Emden. Her practice focuses on affordable housing, where she represents investors and developers (both for profit and nonprofit) in connection with the acquisition, financing and syndication of real estate projects utilizing the low-income housing tax credit. In addition, Ms. Hopkins has assisted with the development of affordable multi-family properties financed with state low-income housing tax credits, tax exempt private activity bonds, federal CDBG, HOME funds, Affordable Housing Program funds and other similar funding sources. She also represents investors in multi-family housing developments within Native American nations, including projects financed, in part, with Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) allocations. Ms. Hopkins is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars. She is also a member of the ABA Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law and serves on the Leadership Committee for the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Forum. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Hopkins was a law clerk at Simon Passanante, PC in St. Louis, Missouri, and served as Executive Editor of the Saint Louis University Public Law Review.
Ms. Hopkins received her Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2002 and her Juris Doctor degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2006.
